dancing gummy bear

i don't think i'll look at a mini-gummy bear the same way! here's my first ultrasound pic....at 9 weeks, the 'kid' apparently was moving his/her hands and feet. dancing to the beat of its own drums already. here's a pic, and to blur out some of my info, i added that wonderful little 'i heart u' up top.

i still don't know what i feel or how to wrap my mind around being a P-A-R-E-N-T.

Women can have preeclampsia in the middle of their pregnancy, usually diagnosed around 20+ weeks and there are currently no treatments or cure for it. recapping 2018 and making new lists for 2019

Oh, 2018, let's recap. To say that this was a hard year is an understatement. Once I left my postpartum storm behind, I thought I was in the home stretch of the usual childhood scrapes and bruises. I spent a lot of time at the hospital for both kiddos. What a whirl it has been since the beginning of the year! From asthma attacks, staph infections, croupy coughs, flus A and B strains to a rare blood disorder that my daughter was diagnosed with. I feel even more exhausted just thinking about what a year its been! So onto this "new"ish blog. Because I do miss blogging! Life after these past series of storms begin like this: standing in the center of chaos and wondering, "where exactly do I go from here?" I use to think that I needed to go all in; tackle as many tasks to clear the mess faster/repair the damage faster. But with my fickle heart, I would find something in the thick of cleaning up, a memento or a destroyed shard of something that would give me p...

daily best things

a friend of mine on her facebook has been doing 'best things about today' as her status update. while you've been in the nicu, i started to do some, partly as an update to friends and family that would like to know how you're doing and another part to genuinely give thanks about the daily milestones and blessings that come our way. yesterday, the chaplain came up to me and wanted to know who you were, how long you've been here and was surprised that i was driving daily to see you. while gas is something i complain about on a daily basis....yesterday, my favorite 'cheap' gas station went from $3.64 to $3.74 in less than 4 hours... i still could not imagine NOT having to see you. even when i couldn't hold you, i wanted to be there so you can hear my voice and know (i hope) that you were never truly alone from your family. so it hit home yesterday that i am truly blessed. i have the oppurtunity to do these daily drives and have the monetary and time to ...
