the story of us

you were born on a Saturday. i was expecting to be transferred to a different hospital after the nurses kept coming in saying you were being a 'bad girl' and messing with the placenta. everytime you'd mess with it, your heart rate would drop. a few hours of coming and going, she decided to call the doctor and wouldn't you know it? you were perfectly still and your heart rate didn't go down anymore.

unfortunately, our doctor is a very cautios lady (although, you wouldn't know it by looking at her). she decided to call a different hospital and made the decision to take you out.....just 1 day shy of 32 weeks!

your dad wasn't at the hospital. he decided earlier on that he'll go back to work. at 2:30 am, i called him and let him know that he needed to come back to be able to meet you.

he barely made it! he came into town at 8 and the nurses were already prepping me for an emergency c-section.

the plan was not to have a c-section. but i did.
the plan was not to have any epidural/spine/drug. but i did.
the plan was not to have a premmie. but i did.

and you came out crying at 9:37 am on Saturday. i was so estatic to hear that wail and sad that it disappeared down the hallway. they told me you weighed an "impressive" 3 pounds, 5 ounces. 16 inches long.

your mommy never worked her body so hard to try to get out of the hospital as fast as she can! i managed to walk down the hallway a day after the c-section, showered and rearing to go. the only face-times i got with you was on the phone. God bless technology!

never fear, sweet one. you were never alone. your aunts came to the rescue and did their rounds while i was in recovery. my mom stayed with me until i was ready to be released.

i got to see and touch you for the first time on monday afternoon! i'm working on pumping some milk for you and get you fat and plump so you can leave.

so far, i can tell you have my stubborn streak. that's a good thing (sometimes) it'll get you through the tough parts or the parts that people don't think you can handle.

hang on tight, dear one. we'll be home together soon.
